Tranquility #5 (Cabin in the Woods) - is fifth in the series of 5 Embellished Fabric
Collage interiors.
This piece has simple elements in the kitchen table scene, taking a month to
complete. The orange juice provides the warm color focal point, leading out the
"window" to a woods - an oil painting. - The room which is various textured and
colored fabrics (silk, organza, cotton, suede, etc.) first sheet glue backed, then
heat set. Then the whole picture is accented and highlighted with fabric pens and
acrylic paint.
Although the photo shows the overall embellished fabric collage looking like a
painting, the textures and depth is much more interesting when the original is seen

This stage of the piece was completed 5 years prior to the
above; It won 1st prize in the Kern County CA fair in the
professional mixed media category. When submitted to a
show in Las Vegas, it wasn't even accepted. So I
reworked it to reflect 3 taller chairs to improve unity and
perspective in the collage.
