30.5" X 26.5"h) - This Tranquility is the first in a series of 5 Embellished Fabric
The foreground flowers and table lead the viewer up to the window to look out into
a moonlit mountainous landscape. The whole first layer is composed of various
materials such as silk and suede. At that point fabric paint and embroidery add
interest, color variety, and shading. The piece developed my patience with the
process, but I must have enjoyed it enough to keep going with the interior theme.
Although the photo shows the overall embellished fabric collage looking like a
painting, texture in each piece of fabric, and depth due to the layering process is
more beautiful when seen in its original form. If you plan to visit the Las
Vegas-Henderson, Nevada area, call to ask where the studio originals can be
viewed. (661) 343-1639.
This piece won first prize when it was shown for the first time in 2002 at the Kern
County Fair- a California exhibit. It was also juried into other shows after this.
