The Sower - After Van Gogh

This is the first art piece that I did with embellished fabric collage, in the year 2000. I chose Van
Gogh to experiment with fabric art this way partially because of his fascination with color and
abstraction. I liked the play on words "The Sower" also because in 1999 I considered myself a
sewer. I used two pieces of especially fabulous fabric scraps- one was a gold brocade snipped into
strips for the sun's rays. I deluded myself into thinking that the resulting ORIGINAL picture was at
least as attractive as Van Gogh's original especially because of that and some thick gold organza
for the ball of the sun.
