Kern River Road to Bakersfield
|
20" X 27.5"- Watercolor
For several years in the 1980's I was the school psychologist at Kern Valley High School,
so I had to drive along the Kern River through the mountains at least once weekly to get
there from Bakersfield. At times it was dangerous, with rock slides; but often the river
rapids called me to do something so I would remember the drive "forever". I'm glad I did
this picture as this is the only visual memory I have of that trek now in 2011. I love the
quinaquidone yellow that shows as golden orange in the mountains when I use it straight
out of the tube.
