Drina Fried made her first Embellished Fabric Collage in 1999, and has been
creating more ever since she was able to obtain good quality fabric. For
this cat and aquarium piece,  she first found the silk and other fabric for
the "room", to set the stage for the idea, and to build a "frame" for the
canvas view out the "window". She uses (heat set) glue to affix the fabric to
the linen substrate. To make the aquarium "glass" she made an acrylic
"skin" with acrylic medium and paint embellishment before affixing it onto
the foreground "table". The cat  and fish are giclees on paper, further
embellished before being affixed.
